Inspire The Community

Grow Local Business

Regenerate the Land

With the rapid and consistent growth, the farm needs to expand its outdoor spaces to meet increased community needs.

The Community Barn

Opening in 2023! The Barn will serve as a flexible space for an indoor farmers market, environmental education, and produce processing. The open floor plan will allow for maximum possible usage.

Designed with the Community In Mind

The Barn is designed as a agricultural building with the community in mind. The Front end of the farm will serve as the final processing area as well as a local farmers market that the community can purchase local products from local farms. (Including Wild Kid Acres!)

The Heritage Rotunda

This outdoor covered arena will serve as a safe and versatile space to conduct animal husbandry and other programs, such as animal-assisted therapy, hands-on animal behavior courses, horsemanship, yoga, etc. It is essential to the financial health of the farm and its public programming, as it will ensure continuity of services regardless of inclement weather or future pandemics. It will be a multi-use space that will allow participants to experience a variety of species and outdoor services, and will be named and dedicated to the black history of the farm.

From the early 1900s to the current ownership, the farm was host to a variety of important activities of the local African-American community, including the all-black female softball team known as The Cougars. As part of the Maryland Heritage Area program, this farm will emphasize and honor the history of the black community on its soil, and name this structure the Heritage Rotunda. Didactic signs on this history and its importance to the local community, will complete the structure.
